We are at the frontline promoting healthy sustainable ecosystems
Reflection by the Board Chairperson - Pristine Sustainable Ecosystems
Alice A. Kaudia, Chairperson - Pristine Sustainable Ecosystems
During the pre-industrial period, the planet was richly endowed with natural resources. As recent as 1960 when I was a toddler, I experienced the freshness of air and the melody of birds at dawn signaling day-break. From up the mountains down to the rivers and oceans, there was a feeling of natural harmony. The forest floors were not visible. A mosaic of canopy of trees and shrubs as well as thick under growth defined the forests. River-waters were crystal clear. Scooping and drinking the same was very safe. During the sunny season, butterflies dotted the petals of many flowering plants and bees harvested pollen. In my mature age in the 2020s, I yarn to bring back the pristine nature.
The world and Africa in particular is facing multiple climate challenges including: intensifying absolute poverty levels in Africa, pollution, loss of soil fertility, terrestrial, aquatic and marine biological diversity, reduced food productivity and increasing unemployment among the youth. Yet, natural resources are getting depleted by the minute.
Time is running out. Urgent action at scale is not an option. Every action to remedy the situation, however small and at any level, counts to change and improves the whole.
We at Pristine Sustainable Ecosystems embrace partnerships with a focus and determination to make an impactful contribution to restoration of degraded ecosystems, prevent air and other types of environmental pollution, promote application of climate adaption for resilient development policies, elimination of absolute poverty under inclusive systems that supports gender equity and youth empowerment.
Join us! Together we can make the needed change to healthy sustainable ecosystems, for and by healthy people.
